BZAM Cannabis

BZAM is an analog cannabis brand. In an industry where ‘bud porn’ and high production values have become the norm, BZAM takes a perpendicular detour to another place entirely. Inspired by the underground press and ‘zine movements, the brand champions the “familliar-yet unexpected”, and uses a deliberately handmade aesthetic as a metaphor for meticulous cannabis curation.

The Story

By using archival imagery from the early days of cannabis activism, I was able to create a brand that referenced the black market without getting lost in the sea of ‘legacy brands’. BZAM wants you to remember the thrill of feeling like you’re in a secret club, which has quickly declined since legalization. A club that isn’t about elitism, but rather shared culture and a feeling of belonging. For some people it might not be very interesting, but for the people that the brand resonates with, it feels tailor made.
